Awards - Americas and Global
- MUFG was again recognized as one of the top ten global Lead Arrangers in financing clean-energy in 2023, ranking #2 in the BloombergNEF 2H 2023 Clean Energy League Table. Our bank enabled the development and acquisition of renewable assets through 64 transactions, totaling an amount of $3.7 billion. These transactions took the form of construction loans, acquisition facilities, and refinancings as an underwriter and syndicator to other financial institutions. This is the 14th year in a row that MUFG has ranked within the top three positions on this League Table.
- MUFG was recognized by IJGlobal in the publication’s ESG Awards 2023 for its Jack Daniels Distillery Biogas and Digestion Plant financing deal in the biomass category. The project demonstrates innovation within the sector by converting stillage into renewable natural gas and fertilizer, providing measurable social impacts by heating homes, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, supporting local agriculture, and potentially converting the distillery's vehicle fleet to compressed natural gas (CNG), aligning with ESG goals and promoting a circular economy, according to one of the judges.
- MUFG was awarded Lender of the Year by A Word About Wind for the third consecutive year at the annual Wind Investment Awards for 2022.
- Global Finance magazine named MUFG a 2022 Sustainable Finance Award winner for Japan.
- MUFG was named North America Bank of the Year for 2021 by Proximo for achievements in project finance throughout the year. Additionally, MUFG financed six transactions covering renewable energy, power and infrastructure that won the 2021 Proximo Deal of the Year Award.
- MUFG was awarded Gold in the Banking Category for our involvement in international rulemaking for climate transition finance among other activities at the 2022 Ministry of the Environment’s ESG Finance Awards Japan. In addition, MUFG was selected as an Environmental Sustainable Company in the Environmental Sustainable Company Category for fulfilling established information disclosure criteria.
- MUFG remains one of the top ten global Lead Arrangers in financing clean-energy and energy-smart technologies in 2021, ranking third in Bloomberg’s Clean Energy Finance League Tables. With $2.9 billion in financing for 58 projects, this is the 12th straight year MUFG has been in the top three among private sector banks in the ranking, including five years as the top bank in this space.
