Nobuki Hatano

Mr. Nobuki Hatano is Executive Officer and Head of Global Planning, Corporate Planning Division of MUFG and MUFG Bank, positions he assumed in April to May 2023.

A seasoned banker with more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Hatano has held a series of leadership positions both in Japan and overseas.  

Mr. Hatano began his career in 1995 at The Bank of Tokyo. His overseas experience includes five years in EMEA, and more than seven years in the United States, most recently at the MUFG Americas Holding Division in New York, beginning in 2015, where he led the team working on establishing the governance framework based on the Enhanced Prudential Standards.

In Mar 2023, Mr. Hatano returned to Tokyo to serve as Head of the Corporate Planning Division, and was assigned a leadership role to enhance global governance and business development both in Americas and EMEA.

Previously, Mr. Hatano served as Deputy President of MUFG Bank (Europe) N.V. (MBE) in the Netherlands. As MBE Deputy President, he was responsible for enhancing the safety and soundness of MBE’s business and operating platforms. 

Mr. Hatano holds a Bachelor of Laws from University of Tokyo, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Michigan Business School in 2002.
