Mark Thumser
Chief Financial and Strategy Officer
Mark Thumser is Chief Financial and Strategy Officer for the Americas, which includes MUFG Americas Holdings Corporation.
Mr. Thumser is responsible for leading the development and execution of corporate strategy for the Americas and working with each line of business and support unit on their respective strategies. In this role, Mr. Thumser also leads the Financial Management team for the Americas, which includes Corporate Treasury, Corporate Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, Procurement, Accounting, and Risk Management.
Based in New York, he is a member of the Executive Committee for the Americas, the primary policy making group for the bank and holding company, reporting to Kevin Cronin, CEO and Regional Executive for MUFG in the Americas.
Mr. Thumser, who joined MUFG in 2012, was most recently Head of Global Corporate and Investment Banking Strategy and Business Operations. Previously, he spent 11 years at J.P. Morgan Chase in a variety of progressively senior positions. There he helped establish the Global Corporate Bank as a new business unit and built-out the global finance support team. Before joining J.P. Morgan Chase, he began his career at Renaissance Worldwide / The COBA Group where he advised clients in technology, telecom and utility industries, and performed commercial due diligence for UK private equity firms.
Mr. Thumser holds a JD degree from Vanderbilt Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame.
